Hello there, we are Zsolt, Eszter and Zaiden, a full time traveling family, on the road since 2021 with our two fur kids.
As a husband and wife team after the initial phone booking with Eszter, Zsolt will come to you and weigh your caravan and share his expert knowledge about weight distribution and how you can shuffle things around to make it all work and be safe!
As at December '24 we have travelled nearly 90000 kms in this amazing car. Comfort gets an absolute 5 star rating from us, but let's talk about weights!
Front axle capacity 2359 kg
Rear axle capacity 2995 kg (we have an additional leaf in the rear spring for extra weight carrying capacity)
GVM 5350 kg (we are registered as a light truck, the 4495 kg GVM limit as a car was not enough, so had to change the registration)
GCM 10388 kg (So, plenty up our sleeve)
Using Yokohama Geolandar X-AT tyres in a 295/70/R18 size, just had the third set installed, fair to say, we are very happy with them!
Off road caravan at it's best :)
Initially a 3.5 T van, but after a number of weighings we had to upgrade to 4 T to be legal and covered by our insurance. The upgrade involved a change on the coupling to upsize to Cruisemaster DO 45 coupling and higher rated chains. Fortunately that's all that needed to be done to get a new compliance plate.
Over the last couple of years we have installed an Enerdrive 2600 Watt inverter, Truma EcoVario gas heater. Upgraded the batteries to 2x150 AH lithiums. Put bigger tyres on for better clearance and more surface area so the current size is 285/75/R16. And a few other bits and bobs...
We are extremely happy with our van especially after ticking off some iconic routes like Cape York, Savannah Way, Gibb River Road, Strzelecki Track, Cordillo Downs, Oodnadatta Track, Tanami Track, Great Central Road, Mereenie Loop etc.
